Updated Lector Procedures

Attention all Lectors:  Please click here to review our updated procedures.  Please contact Angela LaGiglia with any questions.

Beginning December 1, 2024:

There will be a 15-minute contemplative period preceding each Mass.  The cantor will announce the beginning of that period.  When the celebrant is ready proceed into the church, the cantor will announce that the congregation is to rise..  This new procedure will commence at the beginning of December, the first Sunday of Advent.

Since there is NO CANTOR at the 8am Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, the lector will announce the beginning of the “quiet” period at the beginning of the Mass from the Cantor’s lectern (instead of processing in with the priest). This will happen ONLY at the 8 AM Sunday Mass.

Prayer for Lectors

Praise to you, Lord God,
king of the universe,
and all glory to your name.
I praise you and thank you for calling me
to proclaim your word to your beloved people.
Open the hearts of all who worship with us,
so that they may hear your voice when I read.
Let nothing in my life or manner disturb your people
or close their hearts to the action of your Spirit.
Cleanse my heart and mind,
and open my lips so that I may proclaim your glory.
All praise to you, heavenly Father,
through the Lord Jesus in the Holy Spirit,
now and forever.
Amen.
